Gas Field Inspector

We are recruiting for Part Time and Full Time Gas Field Inspectors to work on utility company systems throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast Regions. The Gas Field Inspector provides gas field inspection services and technical assistance (standards, procedures, design, etc.) in support of the Utility.

Required or related experience in some or all of the responsibilities listed below:

  • Inspect work performed by utility and/or construction contractors in accordance with construction standards and operating procedures.
  • Installation and repair of coated steel, plastic, and/or cast iron gas mains and services.
  • Installation and pressure testing commercial and residential gas piping systems.
  • Leak detection and repair
  • Cathodic protection, coating inspection and corrosion detection
  • Environmental inspection and permitting
  • Follow all safety protocols and OSHA regulations. OSHA 10 or 30 a plus.
  • Experience fusing plastic pipes and welding knowledge.
  • Tapping gas mains, installing proper fittings and couplings.
  • Excavation and backfilling and experience with One Call system or state equivalent.
  • Perform work site traffic control and safety inspections, and documents results of field installation activities of outside plant facilities
  • Ability to prepare as-built drawings
  • Understand the use of gas-testing equipment such as pyrometers, combustible gas indicators, etc.
  • Must clearly document findings electronically on utility specific forms or exhibits.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word; and e-mail applications.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience that relates to installation of gas mains and services.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Strong organizational skills to complete daily paperwork
  • Current NGA qualifications or equivalent in required tasks/evaluations, or achieve requirements prior to being hired.
